Good question. This is a common rosacea trigger and very frustrating. The evidence shows that most of the problem lies in the fact that fluorescent lighting and computers emit a high percentage of damaging blue rays (in the blue spectrum of visible light). These rays emit High Energy Visible (HEV) radiation in the blue spectrum. These rays fall upon the optic nerve -- which, in turn -- sends "pain signals" to the hypothalamus and thalamus AND sends normal signals back to the Occipital Lobe responsible for vision. Sadly, there are many sources of HEV radiation, even innocent rays that reflect off of snow and water.... these are especially high in damaging blue light radiation. The key is to block or quench the blue light. (1) Oral Rosadyn -- We have had success with oral rosadyn in many cases because three of the ingredients scavenge blue light and quench it before it gets to the optic nerve. Debra Roberts, a severe rosacea sufferer for over a decade who has responded beautifully to Rosadyn as you can see by her treatment photos and testimonial on the Rosadyn Home Page states, "I also suffered from artificial light sensitivity and the Rosadyn has helped that tremendously. Before Rosadyn, I could sit on the computer for about 15 minutes, and be red and burning so bad, that I couldn't stay on anymore. Since being on Rosadyn, I have been able to be on the computer for hours at a time, without feeling any ill effects." -Debra Rob erts (2) Special Glasses and Contact Lenses -- Your best friend for this case is your local Optician. They can fit your glasses with panels that reflect blue light or they can build glasses or contacts from scratch to perform this function. Feedback from rosacea sufferers using these glasses is excellent. Almost all sunglasses block a portion of HEV rays, but some tints block more blue light than others. Blue-blocking sunglass lenses usually are bronze, copper or reddish-brown in color. Buyer Beware -- Many sunglasses and blue filter glasses sold OTC are not effective and are costly. Go to an optician and purchase one directly from them or have a pair made for you. They can then test and show you the degree of HEV block. Then, you can safely go back to your computer screens. =

I've received several promising reports from International Rosacea Sufferers on Polydentia SA, a Switzerland- based company that specializes in blocking HEV dangerous blue rays.
(1) They make a full face, elegant blocker for those under bright fluorescent lights and working around computer screens all day. Geared towards the strong scientific, bio-medical and medical careers in Switzerland and other Countries. Pretty cool! (2) Orange tinted glasses/googles for everyday wear and more conservative work places and home use (computer and TV). Both products are thoroughly tested for complete block of HEV blue radiation that is largely responsible for various forms of light-induced flushing. If you are one of the many rosacea sufferers that can't work under artificial lighting or on the computer screen OR battle with these at home, these are definitely worth a try. One International Rosacea Consult was kind enough to send me a YouTube video on the company and products: YouTube - Vista-Tec ultra light by Polydentia SA -
