There is considerable controversy over the use of Low Level Laser Therapy (LLLT) for rosacea. People rely on anecdotal reports and sales pitches from companies and individuals that are rarely accurate. Additionally, many often report initial benefit only to be followed by symptom progression months later. Please procede with caution.
Swelling of the nose and upper cheeks can be permanent and disfiguring. This is termed "Rosacea Lymphedema". It first starts out with intermittent bouts of fluid build up that is soft to the touch. Over time, repeated flushing and swelling results in a hardened pad or tissue growth. At this stage one might consider LLLT. RianCorp has completed the only randomised double blind clinical trial testing the effects of LLLT on lymphoedema/lymphedema in the world. The parameters vary depending on the depth of affected tissue and location. It would be wise to contact one of their medical centers and discuss their clinical results. Some of the results deal with fluid buildup on the legs, while others refer to facial lymphedema... focus on the facial treatment guidelines. Good luck.
