Some friends at Stanford University in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology alerted me to intriguing studies about to begin on skin and vascular inflammation. While these are not performed on rosacea sufferers they do involve several inflammatory pathways known to be central to rosacea:
1. NF Kappa B - the master inflammatory switch 2. TNF alpha - production of inflammatory cytokines 3. Neutrophils - central to our overzealous immune response They are examining the enzymes involved in triggering it and incorporating topical micellized peptides to try to turn this cycle off. This is great science and directly relevant to our disorder. Keep you posted. _
