Default Oral and Topical Rambazole Nearing Finish Line

Oral and Topical Rambazole by Barrier Therapeutics holds great potential for acne sufferers and rosacea sufferers with papules, pustules and inflammation.

Its comparable to a low dose safe form of accutane.

They are nearing the finish line and should make announcements during the next two quarters. This would be a great product to have.

Default Ltd iii

Dr. Nase have you ever heard of LTD III??? Its a natural product that I tried a couple weeks ago, although a slow process seems to be working a little. What do you think about it?? Also, my biggest problem with Rosacea is the papules, they will just pop up out of no where after I eat something or drink something my body doesn't like but its so hard to pin point. The hardest part is waking up, why is that?

I think I would benefit greatly from accutane. Should I hold off and wait for Rambazole?

Aaron,

Not sure. Now that 5 and 10 mgs of accutane are now available, you might want to discuss starting accutane first. The topical rambazole will probably reach the market first anyway.

Hello Channel 77,

Yes, I am quite familiar with the Rosacea LTD disks. There main actions are on papules and pustles and the salt content of the disk draws out the fluid... thus, shrinking the inflammatory bumps.

The only caveat is that often times, applicaton of high salt concentration can disrupt the skin's barrier. Procede with caution.

Do you have any allergies. Reactions right after eating might indicate certain food allergies. Most forms of allergies induce the release of inflammatory leukotrienes from skin mast cells. If this is the case, oral singulair may be worth a trial under the guidance of your Primary Care Physician. Cheers.

Sleera,

I am going to try to find out more about their status with my Research and Development contacts in the company. They are definitely interested in making an oral and topical for rosacea, especially after seeing how many rosacea sufferers respond to accutane. Basically this will be the "SAFE" version of accutane and the topical version looks very promising -- much better than the harsh Retinoic Acid, Retinols, and Tretinoin.

Especially exciting is that it may also turn out to be one of the best "anti-aging treatments" in a long time as cis-retinoic acid (which Rambazole stimulates in the skin) is the number one anti-aging molecule found in the skin.

If oral Rambazole gets approved for use in rosacea and acne, this could easily be one of the best overall treatments for rosacea because it naturally increases the most potent "skin beautifier and anti-inflammatory", cis-retinoic acid. It does this naturally by increasing skin synthesis of this molecule and reducing its uptake. Theoretically, this would also catapult to the top of the anti-aging treatment list as cis-retinoic acid is key to keeping the mitochondria and cellular DNA alive and healthy. Definitely something to keep tabs on.

Oral Rambazole just passed an important Phase II study point and should be entering the final testing phase very shortly. This should be a great product for all Rosacea Subtypes.

Rambazole may be available for Plaque Psoriasis first ... and at the same time allow for "off-label" treatment for rosacea.

Rambazole (talarozole)
BRAND NAME: Rambazole
GENERIC NAME: talarozole
EXPERIMENTAL/INTERNAL COMPANY NAME: R115866
TESTING PHASE II
CLINICAL TRIALS

DRUG USE (P OR PsA) METHOD OF DELIVERY DEVELOPING COMPANY/COMPANIES

Moderate to severe plaque psoriasis Oral Barrier Therapeutics/ Stiefel, a GSK Company

Description and Comments

Rambazole is a retinoic acid metabolism blocking agent (RAMBA), which means that it inhibits the natural biological breakdown of retinoic acid. Retinoic acid (Vitamin A) and related compounds called retinoids (e.g. Soriatane/acetretin) have long been known to be effective treatments for psoriasis. By preventing the breakdown of retinoic acid, drugs like Rambazole increase the amount of retinoic acid inside cells, thereby relieving psoriasis symptoms in a manner similar to Soriatane/acetretin. Studies are underway to determine whether Rambazole can provide the same benefits as Soriatan/acetretin with fewer side effects such as increased lipid levels.
