Default Red Light Therapy on the way out - Yellow LED for 2010

The use of Red Light Therapy continues to baffle specialists in the rosacea field. Angiogenesis, increased blood flow for hours post treatment, swelling, fibroplasia, mitochondrial activation which triggers papule formation, VEGF synthesis, Nitric Oxide synthesis (potent dilators), activation of White Blood Cells, free radical production. Theory and anecdotal reports are in agreement. Red light therapy should be discarded.

Yellow Light Therapy is the better treatment for Rosacea.

LED Yellow light is used in the the cosmetic treatment of burns (such as sunburns) to reduce the appearance of redness, swelling as well as other inflammation conditions such as rosacea and eczema. Yellow light therapy also provides general cosmetic facial rejuvenation by assisting with the reduction of the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines. LED photo modulation at this frequency has been used alone for skin rejuvenation in several studies. Use LED Yellow light for rosacea redness, flushing and swelling.

Dr. Nase,

Interesting post. I did a search on Google and couldn't find any info on Yellow Light for rosacea. I also couldn't find any Yellow Light units.

Do you have a recommendation?

Also, has there be any tests done on this?

Many people seem to have wonderful success from RLT. I have always been very interested in trying it out.

Hi Del,

Dont mean to but in, but the Yellow LED's are out there and make much more sense for rosacea as they cause the vessels to physically shrink. There are a couple hand helds and some full face machines. I'll try to find the links again.

I watched the rosacea forum with distraught. Many of these people were selling RLT and adding testimonials. I was approached by over a dozen people making commission off of this device. The results are tainted and skewed and unethical. People who sound off are banned or attacked.

The interesting thing I found that at first it may help some, but look at those same people, they have stopped using them a couple months in. Everything about them is theoretically unsound.

Here is a partial list taken from one of Dr. Nase's posts:

1. It increases the growth of blood vessels exponentially
2. It increases blood flow by up to 300% for 8 to 10 hours
3. It increases the production of the three worst substances for rosacea, NF KappB, VEGF and nitric oxide
4. It causes increase in fibroplasia - rhinophyma and orange peel skin
5. It increases ATP which the NRS has shown to cause outbreaks and papules
6. There are significant numbers of side effects including first and second degree burns. He then copied and pasted a half dozen incidents reported by the FDA.
7. Worst of all, people are putting these machines together without any bakground in biophysics, so sudden energy surges can cause permanent facial burns or scarring
8. Dr. Nase said that laser physicians are now treating RLT cases to undo the increased redness, flushing and burning.
9. He did mention one form of rosacea that it might help, steroid rosacea.
10. The key thing to remember is that many of those people are selling machines and making up their own testimonials.

If I am wrong about any of these points Im sure Dr Nase will correct them. Its just not smart.

Yep, lots of salespeople on the Rosacea Forum for RLT I was approached by several and due to desperation purchased one. Used it for two weeks and got worse. Tried to return it but NO REFUND. Its amazing what you will try when you are desperate. I am a member of the rosacea forum also and I see they are now recommending putting urine on the face. I believe the person that supplies the urine on that forum receives a commission.

That site continues to plummet withought any direction or expertise.

Katie.

Thanks for the info. I'd appreciate some links if you can find them. I would certainly give YLT a go if it is inexpensive like RLT.
