Physicians who once supported the use of RLT post Laser treatment are backtracking. They noticed decreased redness post laser treatment and initially thought that was a good response.
Laser Doppler studies that measure blood flow now show that laser induced photocoagulation (a sign of good vascular laser treatment and the cause of the facial redness) needs to clot to destroy the blood vessels. Red light therapy can increase blood flow up to 400% and remove those clots.... this clears the redness, but undoes the laser photocoagulation.
