Email Questions: "Dr. Nase, what is the best laser for rosacea with acne and papules" ... Robert.
I like the ISOLAZ laser for rosacea with acne, papules, blocked pores (whiteheads and blackheads) and pores filled with sebum (follicular Hyperkeratosis). It also may help patients that sufferer from mild forms of keratosis pilaris. There have also been several new upgrades the last year to the suction device and laser that have improved this system. It is primarily developed to apply a small suction to remove sebum and acne from the deepest sebaceous glands and lobules, and papule outbreaks; while doing this it brings the glands to the surface and allows them to be heated slowly... inactivating the glands and normalizing their response. It is important to note that ISOLAZ is promoted for vascular rosacea, but it is not very good and, in fact, the suction may break the small hair pin blood vessels at the surface of the skin. The laser center should follow ISOLAZ treatment with IPL or V-beam treatment to seal off the blood vessels. This is an excellent combination treatment. Below are three great links to review how ISOLAZ works.
