Hello everyone!! I have suffered from rosacea for 5 years. It seems to come and go at ths point. My face will burn, sting, be red and rashy looking with bumps that itch like crazy, facial swelling as well. It will last a few weeks or months and then its gone and I feel normal. I have yet to figure out my triggers although weather is one for sure. I am happy to meet you all and hope I can be a helpful contributer to this site. I am signing up for Dr. Nase's help and have had an IPL laser treatment. It left me dry as all get out and really irritated my skin.Facial swelling and increased redness, it has calmed down but makes me very nervous to do it again. Has anyone else had this response? Every zap was like a rubber band snap plus .Scared to return but am reading it is my best chance at normalcy. Any comments would be appreciated. ladygolf

Thank you Katie and Pharmacist. Nice to meet you, wish it were under better circumstances ! I am looking forward to working with Dr Nase and with the Doctor doing the IPL laser treatments. Its 2 weeks today and my skin looks pretty good. The redness is way down and basically its still tight and peeling in certain areas. I am scheduled for round 2 in 3 weeks.I had a flareup right after the laser . I am aware that stress is one of my main triggers and it was painful and stressful. I'm going to ask him to lower the voltage or whatever it is so as not to be so painful. It was like a rubberband snap plus each time. Two and a half months ago I also had a skin cancer removed from my nose that required a skin graph and 22 stitches. Thats how the whole IPL came about as he saw the rosacea and knew how red my nose would get I guess. Would others here be willing to share about IPL treatments and how they worked out for them?? Would others be willing to share about products that have worked for them?I just started the Rosaderm caps so I will keep others posted if anyone is interested. I refuse to let rosacea beat me.

I have just had my 2nd IPL laser treatment a week ago. I noticed way less inflamation and pain this time. Redness is much better and the pain during the procedure was less as well even tho the doctor said he upped the strength a notch. I am also taking 2 rosadyn caps a day for a month or so now. My facial burning is down, hoping it is because of both things so I will continue. Having another IPL in 2 weeks. I am using skinceuticals AGE Correct face cream. Very expensive but my skin seems to absolutely love it. When I get tight and dry, I put it on and it makes me feel so much better.

LadyGolf, Your description regarding laser treatment is quite common. The skin adapts and thickens over time which results in less pain. Plus, clinical studies indicate that laser treatment removes blood vessels AND pain nerves in the facial skin. This is why some patients report less burning and stinging sensations post laser. These are all very good signs. Please post your experiences with the Fraxel laser as I receive a lot of requests about rosacea treatment with the Fraxel. It would be great to hear from someone first hand. Thank you. _

My best advice is to always start with the proper skin care. Gentle... gentle... gentle.
Stay away from the antiaging products, the clarisonic brushes that rip holes in your epidermis, the scrubbing beads, the irritating retinols. Rosacea does not mix well with these products. Now, the Neutrogena copper peptides are definitely worth a try and LOreal's ProV line. Just be cautious.
