Cool name. Each case certainly varies, but these two ingredients, when combined are emulsifiers... they rip open epidermal cells and make them porous and the blood vessels under neath are then vulnerable.

In general, if they are at high concentrations, at the beginning of the ingredient list, then they certainly might pose a problem. If they are low on the list, it should not bother most. Cetaphil cleansing lotion is a silent killer.

Many of our compounding formulations are made up of high concentrations of cetyl and stearyl alcohol AKA emulsifying wax. For normal skin this seems to be fine, but for sensitive skin, this does increase redness. That's been my experience. If I bump up the glycerine content to about 5%, this usually helps. FYI.
