Many of our compounding formulations are made up of high concentrations of cetyl and stearyl alcohol AKA emulsifying wax. For normal skin this seems to be fine, but for sensitive skin, this does increase redness. That's been my experience. If I bump up the glycerine content to about 5%, this usually helps. FYI.
